WE MUST DEVELOP A NEW UNDERSTANDING OF THE TRUE PURPOSE AND EXISTENCE ON PLANET EARTH LET'S FIRST TAKE A BRIEF MOMENT TO REFLECT ON OUR WORLD... It teems with life from the snowy Arctic to the Amazon rain forest, from the Sahara Desert to the Everglades swamp, from the dark ocean floor to bright mountain peaks – life abounds. And it is loaded with the potential to amaze us. It comes in types, sizes, and quantities that stagger the imagination. A million species of insects hum and wiggle on our planet. In the waters swim over 20,000 species of fish – some the.size of a grain of rice, others as long as a truck. At least 350,000 plant species – some weird, most wonderful – embellish the land. And over 9,000 species of birds fly overhead. These creatures including man, form the panorama and symphony that we refer to as life. Our planet has ideal features and our existence requires precision in other respects as well. Consider the earth’s measurements and its position relative to the rest of our solar system. As never before those questions beg for answers. Why? Because of the amazing things that have been discovered about our earth – including its size and its position in our solar system. Our Earth, though, is just the right size for our existence. In what sense? If earth were slightly larger, its gravity would be stronger and hydrogen, a light gas, would collect in the atmosphere, being unable to escape the earths gravity. Thus, the atmosphere would be inhospitable to life. On the other hand, if earth were slightly smaller, life-sustaining oxygen would escape and surface water would evaporate. In either case, we would not live. The earth is also at and ideal distance from the sun, a factor vital for life to shrive. Astronomer John Barrow and mathematician Frank Tipler studied “the ratio of the Earth’s radius and distance from the sun.” They concluded that human life would not exist “were these ratios slightly different from what it is observed to be.” Professor David L. Block notes; “Calculations show that had earth been situated only 5 percent closer to the sun, a runaway greenhouse effect [overheating of the earth] would have occurred about 4 000 million years ago. If, on the other hand, the earth were placed only 1 percent further from the sun, runaway glaciations [huge sheets of ice covering much of the globe] would have occurred some 2 000 million years ago.
To the above precision, you can add the fact that Our Earth rotates on its axes once a day, at the right speed to produce moderate temperatures. Venus takes 243 days to rotate. Just think if the earth took as long! We could not survive the extreme temperature resulting from such long days and nights. Another vital detail is our earth’s path around the sun. Comets have a wide elliptic path.Thankfully, this is not so with the earth. Its orbit is almost circular. Again, this prevents us from experiencing death-dealing extremes of temperature. There is an amazing degree of fine-tuning in everything about our universe. All around us, we see evidence that nature got it right? Yes, the precise tuning of the fundamental forces has made possible the existence and operation of our sun, our delightful planet with its life-sustaining water, our atmosphere so vital for life, and a vast array of precious chemicals on earth. But ask yourself, Why such precise tuning, and from where? While scientists need to be applauded for their great discoveries, they are still divided in its opinion of how the universe originated, but on one thing there is agreement – that there is order in the universe. Webster defines order as ‘conformity to law’ and orderly as ‘well managed’. Just what is the order of the universe? We know that it does conform to law and that it is certainly well managed. What is the meaning to life? What is the nature of Man, of the universe? Ever since we became intelligent enough to ask these questions they have intrigued each generation, and the answers are still unclear. One thing we can know, however, is that all manifestations of nature are governed by universal laws.
It is impossible to define God beyond what has been stated above, because God is beyond our comprehension. All men, even atheists, who profess to deny the existence of God, and agnostics, who are honest enough to say that they do not know whether there is a God or not, must surely acknowledge that there must be some power, some intelligence, coordinating and regulating this incredibly vast universe and all the creative energies moving through it. If it were not so there would be chaos instead of the magnificent order and beauty that we see in Our Universe.
The spiritual needs of humanity today are bringing many awakened religious and philosophical leaders throughout Our World to the realization that a synthesis of spiritual thought and action is the only solution to the challenge and problem of man’s spiritual ignorance – which is the basic cause of conflict within Our World.
For World Peace prayer by prayer, we can create a consciousness of peace that blesses the world. We are all members of the human family, which is composed of billions of people from all ethnicities, traditions, and countries around the globe. Together we inhabit a common dwelling called Planet Earth. Though each of us is a unique creation, we also share much in common. We have the same basic needs for nourishment, shelter, education, and love. As creations of God, we share a spiritual bond. Honouring our interconnectedness of spirit, we must love our neighbours across the street and around the globe. Recognizing the spark of the Divine that is within each one of us, we must act towards one another with compassion and love. Most important, prayer by prayer, we can create a consciousness of peace that blesses us and every other person in the world.
Every mountain, every valley, every creek on this Earth is home to creatures, organisms and spirits that have roamed the Earth a good deal longer than we have. And yet it is we who have been gifted with the power to preserve, destroy, or restore. We are the ones who must choose. What will we create, as our legacy to the future? Our goal is to empower people everywhere with knowledge that can be used to create peace worldwide. OneLight Village Community is provided as a free public service to Planet Earth, to encourage greater love, sustainability and hope for our future. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Ghandi once said, "Be the change that you want to see in the world." Martin Luther King said, "Do what is right and let God take care of the rest." Become a Light Worker for Truth, Joy and Love - And see the Miracles in Each Other and Our Creation.
